JSON (Javascript Object Notation)<\/strong> is one of the most popular and lightweight data-interchange format. It is very easy for machine to parse and for human to read. JSON is a text format which is completely language independent.<\/p>\n

JSON is built on two structures:<\/p>\n

Name\/Value Pair : <\/strong> In different languages, this is realized as an object, record, struct, dictionary, hash table, keyed list, or associative array.<\/li>\n
Ordered list of values : <\/strong> In most languages, this is realized as an array, vector, list, or sequence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

PHP<\/a> has json extension with 4 functions which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Function<\/th>\n Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
json_encode ($value, $options, $depth)<\/td>\n It returns the JSON representation of a value. <\/p>\n

$value: <\/code> is a value being encoded.<\/li>\n
$options: <\/code> bitmask consisting of different values. For more details visit JSON Constants<\/a><\/li>\n
$depth: <\/strong> Set the maximum depth. Must be greater than zero.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
json_decode($json, $assoc, $depth, $options)<\/td>\n Decodes json string. <\/p>\n

$json: <\/strong>Json string being decoded. This function will only works with UTF-8<\/a> encoded strings<\/li>\n
$assoc: <\/strong> Optional parameter with boolean values. By default json_decode() return OBJECT. Set this option TRUE to get ARRAY.<\/li>\n
$depth: <\/strong> User specified recursion depth.<\/li>\n
$options: <\/strong> Json decode option. Currently it supports 2 option JSON_BIGINT_AS_STRING and JSON_OBJECT_AS_ARRAY<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
json_last_error_msg()<\/td>\n Returns the error of the last json_encode() or json_decode() call. <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
